Tim Brown
Tim is currently a Staff Planner in the Planning & Development Department of the City of Dothan, Alabama. He has over 20 years of planning experience working for both Municipal and County government. His area of expertise is in long-range planning and development review.
Tim earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana State University in 1981 and an M.P.A. from the University of Central Florida in 1990. In 1994, Tim was admitted to the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). Tim is also a member of the American Planning Association (APA), Florida Planning & Zoning Association (FPZA), the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA), 1000 Friends of Florida, the APA County Planning Division and the APA New Urbanism Division.
Tim is currently serving as Chair-elect, Session Proposal Coordinator and Awards Committee Chair of the APA County Planning Division. Tim has also served as the Chair of the APA Florida Chapter, Emerald Coast Section from 2006 – 2008 and the Chair of the APA Florida Chapter, First Coast Section from 2000 – 2002. In addition, Tim has served on APA Florida’s Legislative Policy Committee, By-Laws Committee, Nominating Committee, Awards Committee and Ethics Committee. Tim also served as the Chair of the APA Florida Chapter’s Awards Committee and is the current Chair of the APA County Planning Division’s Awards Committee. At the national level, Tim has served on the AICP’s Continuing Education Committee and on the APA National Award Jury. In 2011, Tim received the Distinguished Contribution to the Chapter Award from the APA Florida Chapter.
