Dennis A. Sandquist, AICP, joined the Lake County Department of Planning, Building, and Development as a Principal Planner in 1998 and was promoted to Deputy Director in 1999.
As Deputy Director, Dennis manages the Planning and Support Services Division, which is responsible for the department’s comprehensive planning, data analysis, research library, Geographic Information System, graphic design, and computer functions.
Dennis served as the project manager for the Lake County Regional Framework Plan, a 4-year planning program that included regular participation by County, municipal, and township leaders. Additional projects include overseeing replacement of the County’s building permit system with an integrated development management system capable of linking the permitting functions of several departments.
Prior to coming to Lake County, Dennis was employed for five years by Johnson County Kansas where he worked with development review, long range planning, and GIS. Dennis has additional planning and GIS experience working in New York and New Jersey.
Dennis has a BS in Geography from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and a Masters of City and Regional Planning degree from Rutgers University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
