Robert Hill was appointed as the Brookings County Planning, Zoning and Drainage Director on March 31, 2003.

Brookings County is an agricultural based county with nine communities ranging from 75 to 18,504 people.

As Director, Robert is responsible for the department’s comprehensive and subdivision planning, county drainage plan, zoning compliance and building code enforcement.

Prior to coming to Brookings County Robert retired after serving twenty years in the United States Army serving in exotic places such as Germany, South Korea (three one-year tours), Alabama, Kansas, South Dakota and Texas.

Robert has a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Geography from South Dakota State University.
